John was in his thirties and still living with his parents. He suffered from anxiety and was unemployed and socially isolated. He found it stressful living at home which affected his sleep, so he would often go for walks late at night.
PEP helped John to access housing support through the Community Links Positive Pathways service. His PEP link worker also accompanied him to visit a transitional housing unit which offers short-term supported tenancies, so that clients can develop independent living skills before moving into more permanent housing.
John has since made an application for Employment Support Allowance and opened a bank account. He is also working with his Housing Support Worker to register for a training course and to attend social groups at an adult day centre in Leeds.
John has achieved the goals he set out initially with PEP and continues to work with his Housing Support Worker on a longer term basis. PEP has helped John to build his self-confidence and feel less isolated by introducing him to new activities and services.
