Moira was suffering from a number of serious physical and mental health issues, and had recently gone through a left side amputation. She was becoming isolated as a result of her health problems and disability, spending most of her time indoors with her partner who was also her full time carer. Since the amputation, Moira felt unable to continue with activities that she had previously enjoyed.

Moira’s PEP link worker referred her to a local day centre where she could meet new people and get support with her mental health by taking part in activities. To start with, Moira struggled with the cost of getting to the centre, so her link worker supported her to access financial assistance to reduce her transport costs. Moira can now attend the centre independently, which helps with her confidence as well as giving her partner some free time for himself.
